The Far East Field Office is located aboard Yokosuka Navy Base in the port city of Yokosuka, Japan, on southern Honshu Island, near Tokyo.
The area of responsibility for the Far East Filed Office includes the islands of Japan, South Korea, North Korea, China (PRC), Taiwan (Taipei), Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Paracel and Spratly Islands, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Wallis and Futuna, Western Samoa, Cook Islands, Tuvalu Islands, Kiribati Islands, Nauru Island, Marshal Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, Northern Mariana Islands (Guam), the entire Indian Ocean, and other areas of the North and South Pacific Oceans that fall under the jurisdiction of the Commander Seventh Fleet.
Agents stationed at the Far East Field Office typically work a variety of cases, including general crimes and foreign counterintelligence, and operate under the Status of Forces Agreement with the government of Japan. Because the base is located in downtown Yokosuka, agents work closely with the Yokosuka Police Department.
Yokosuka is home to a fleet of whaling ships, automobile-assembly plants, and numerous shipyards. Also, the USS Kitty Hawk is homeported at the base, as is COMSEVENTH Fleet, USS Blue Ridge (SCIO)
